Buddy Mobility / Posten Norway

The first Autonomous Postal Delivery Robot Designed by Montaag for Posten, Norway, in collaboration with Buddy Mobility and Kyburz Switzerland.

A video was made for the Norwegian Post Office that need to show how a person would interact with the Postal Robot. So I was tasked with making a physical model the actor could interact with, as doing this digitally was deemed to expensive. I 3D printed the model in sections and epoxied it together with Bondo. I then primed and sanded the model several times before giving it its final coat of paint and attaching the wooden slats.

An example of radically different design possibilities of the autonomous age. What will vehicles look like when you don’t need the hardware of today? This particular design was affectionately dubbed the hedgehog. These interior seating concepts immersed passengers in warm natural materials found in the Scandinavian landscape such as steam-bend birch flooring and felt wall panels from sheep’s wool. Designed with ergonomics and wheelchair accessibility in mind, the possibilities of autonomous vehicles offer a complete departure from the traditional interior space.
